I am an interfaith minister who respects all religions, I have been trained to do many different religious ceremonies.
But my personal belief is Christian and in all my work God is the one who heals. I do not pray to multiple Gods nor angels or anything else but God. While in ceremony and praying outloud to the Buddhist’s Medicine Buddha or to the Native American Sioux’s Wakan-Tanka or to the Hawaiian’s Kanaloa or the Sufi’s Allah in my heart they are just an aspect of God that the other persons comprehend as God.
God is all around us and like the story of the elephant, each of us can only see a portion who He is. To some He becomes is God Almighty to others He becomes a healing loving El Shaddi God. It is our own limitations that hampers our view of Him.
There are so many people trying to convert you to their religion… I won’t do that- my goal is to have you love God as you understand Him more… which to many is the universal source. Thus I am trying to grow your faith which has very little to do with religion. That is why interfaith encompasses multiple religions and my hope is that you can love God more in your own religion.
In reality no one can be converted to a religion… the Hindu will convert to Christianity with their Hindu beliefs as their basic understanding. It is almost like the base language, if it isn’t English, you will not be thinking in English… you may translate to English, but the language you learned first is your language…you may enjoy learning another language and pick up some great ideas from it…but English will always be second.
I hope this makes some sense… but this is the primary reason why I do not extend my energies to push my religion… if you have any interest in my personal beliefs I will not withhold sharing information about my faith in God.
I have worked with people of all religions including Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Buddist, Muslim, Hindu, Pagans and Atheists. My sharing has helped them to see possibilities for their own walk. That is the best I can do.
Hope this helps your journey-
Linda
